Hi, and welcome to ‘The Westcoaster’ my food and lifestyle blog by John Webber.
The purpose of this blog is simple. I want firstly to excite and encourage people to produce good fresh food at home. And secondly to promote the virtues of coastal countryside living.

A now retired Chef I have worked and run some of the best kitchens in the country. A few years ago I moved into teaching and presenting, and I want to pass on some of that knowledge and experience to you.
We will not just provide recipes but also explain the how and why. Created by a chef but written in everyday language and terms, making great food not just easy to make, but understandable and enjoyable.
How to use ‘The Westcoaster’
The Blog.
The General Pages and Blog with take you from the garden into the kitchen to produce some great food. Recipes are explained in easy step by step guides. Taking you through the culinary process in down to earth language focusing on not just the how, but also the why? We will also be sampling the local environment and see what makes the west coast so special, and a must see location.
The Food Files.
The Food Files will explain the how and why of cooking and improve both your knowledge and skills. If you want to tackle those tricky dishes. We can explain how to in understandable terms without any quirks, use these pages in conjunction with the Blog recipes. These files will also expand your curiosity and fill in the gaps in understanding how chef’s work.
My Photography.
The My Photography page will link you to my other passion, landscape photography. Been lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world it’s a joy to be able to capture the world we live in.
